How much does roof painting cost in Auckland?
Roof painting in Auckland typically costs $2,500–$8,000+ depending on roof size, pitch, material type and condition. Concrete tile roofs require more preparation (cleaning, priming, repairs) than corrugated iron. We include a full inspection in our free quote to give you an accurate price.
What affects the price of a painting quote?
The main factors are: size of the area being painted, surface condition and prep work required, access requirements (scaffolding, ladders), paint system specified, and number of coats. We always itemise quotes so you can see exactly what you’re paying for.
Preparation & Process
What preparation do you do before painting?
For exterior painting we water blast, scrape loose paint, sand, fill cracks, treat bare timber, replace damaged weatherboards, and prime. For interior, we fill holes and cracks, sand, clean surfaces, and mask all fittings, floors and furniture. Good preparation is the key to a long-lasting result.
How long does exterior painting take?
A full exterior repaint of a standard Auckland 3-bedroom home typically takes 4–7 days depending on size, surface condition and weather. Two-storey homes and homes requiring more preparation take longer. We’ll give you a clear timeline in your quote.
What is the best time of year to paint in Auckland?
For exterior painting, November through April is ideal — warm temperatures and lower rainfall help paint cure properly. Interior painting can be done year-round. We plan scheduling carefully to work around Auckland’s unpredictable weather.
Do you do repairs before painting?
Yes. We carry out minor timber repairs, replace damaged weatherboards, fill cracks, and fix other surface issues before painting. For more extensive repairs we’ll advise you upfront and include the costs in your quote.
Paint & Colour Questions
What paint brands do you use?
We use premium Resene and Dulux paint systems — New Zealand’s leading brands, known for their quality, durability and extensive colour ranges. For specialist applications (roofs, industrial surfaces) we use the appropriate product specified for that surface.
Can you help me choose a colour?
Absolutely. Colour advice is included at no extra charge. We can bring Resene or Dulux colour swatches to your home, discuss options that suit your home’s style and neighbourhood, and even create test patches so you can see colours in your actual light conditions before committing.
How many coats do you apply?
Typically two topcoats are applied over primer/undercoat. In some cases — particularly dramatic colour changes, or porous surfaces — a third coat may be required. We’ll advise this in your quote rather than cutting corners.
Practical Questions
Do I need to be home while you paint?
Not necessarily. Many of our clients give us access and go about their day. For interior work we prefer someone is home initially to confirm areas and access, but can work independently once the job is underway. We’ll discuss your preference when booking.
Are you insured?
Yes. White Rose Painting carries full public liability insurance, giving you complete peace of mind on every job.
Do you work on weekends?
We can accommodate weekend starts when required to minimise disruption to your home or business. Discuss your timeline with us when requesting a quote.
